Measuring Tires

Explore Land / Tire cover guide

How to Measure Your Tire

Find the size code on your tire's sidewall, or measure the tire directly. Before choosing a cover, check both the overall diameter and the widest tire width.

01 / TIRE SIZE CODE

Find the code on the sidewall

Look for a code such as 205/60R15 on the outside of the tire. You can use the Tire Size Chart tab to compare common codes, then verify your tire's actual measurements.

02 / OVERALL DIAMETER

Measure edge to edge

Measure straight across the tire from its outermost top edge to its outermost bottom edge. Measure the rubber tire, not the metal rim. Use inches when comparing with the cover size range.

03 / TIRE WIDTH

Check the widest point

Measure from one outer sidewall to the other at the tire's widest point. Make sure this measurement does not exceed the selected cover's maximum tire width.

Before you order

Choose a cover whose listed diameter range includes your measured diameter, and confirm that your tire width is within the stated limit. Tire dimensions can vary by brand and model, so measurements take priority over the size code alone.
