The craft behind the cover
A patio table, a tire and a pet bed ask different things of a cover. Across Explore Land, Porch Shield and Cuddly Nest, we choose materials and details for the object, the setting and the way the cover will be used.
01 / Fabric architecture
It is more than one layer
Many outdoor covers begin with a woven polyester face. Depending on the product, a PU or PVC coating can form the backing. The visible textile and the underside serve different purposes, and the construction changes with the cover's intended use.
Total fabric weight includes both the yarn and any coating. A higher GSM number alone cannot tell you whether there is more textile, a thicker coating or a better cover.
02 / Color process
Color begins before the yarn
Selected black, reddish-brown and khaki products use solution-dyed yarn. Pigment is added to the raw material before it is extruded into fibers, so the color is part of the filament rather than applied only to finished cloth.
This is a process used for selected colorways, not every product. Our beige products are not included in this description. Individual colorfastness results should be checked against the relevant product and color.

There is no single fabric recipe for everything we cover. These examples are product-specific; always check the individual product page for materials, fit and care.
Porch Shield / Outdoor
Woven fabric, fitted details
The Porch Shield round fire pit cover lists 600D polyester, adjustable straps and vents. Its fastening and airflow details are selected for this outdoor shape.
Explore Land / Vehicles & gear
Contact surfaces matter
The Tire Cover Set uses water-resistant vinyl with a soft backing and an elastic auto-lock cord. The kayak cockpit cover uses PVC-coated fabric, an adjustable bungee cord and deck-line hooks.
Explore Land / Pet comfort
Soft face, distinct backing
Selected short-plush products, including the Dog Bed Cover, use a TPU membrane or coating behind the soft surface. Our patio furniture covers do not use this TPU fabric.
Cuddly Nest / Home storage
Made to store and move
The Tri-Fold Mattress Storage Bag lists 600D PE fabric, wheels and handles. A storage bag has different priorities from a cover left outdoors.
04 / The practical details
Construction you can see and use
Panels, edges, attachment points and openings affect how a cover works in real life. The right detail depends on the product: straps for one shape, an elastic cord for another, a vent where airflow is needed, or a soft backing where a surface is touched.
05 / Responsible claims
The evidence matters as much as the material
A material name, a fabric weight or a color process does not tell the whole story. We review construction and test information by product before making specific performance or environmental claims.
Solution-dyed describes how selected yarn is colored. It is not, on its own, a recycled-content or environmental certification. When comparing covers, start with the actual product's fit, material details and care instructions.
Frequently asked questions
Cover materials, explained
Do all covers use the same fabric?
No. The materials and features change with the object and use. Check the individual product description before choosing a cover.
Does a higher fabric weight mean better quality?
Not by itself. Finished weight can reflect both the woven face and the backing. Fit, construction and appropriate testing matter too.
Do patio covers use the plush TPU construction?
No. That structure is used in selected short-plush products, not our patio furniture cover line.
Are all colors solution-dyed?
No. It applies to selected black, reddish-brown and khaki products. Our beige products are not included.
